Court of Appeal refers to any court, either federal or state, that has the authority to hear cases from smaller courts like a lower appeals court. It is the intermediate court which stands between the initial trial court and last court of appeal like the Supreme Court.
Cases escalated and brought to the court of appeal(s) are usually heard by three judges. If the matter is of a serious nature, all the judges of the court may decide the case through majority vote.
