Definition of De Jure

De jure is a Latin term that means "of [or "in"] law." It is used to refer to things that are in proper accordance with the law. For example, a de jure government would be one that has been legitimately set up in accordance with the laws of the country.



De Jure Explained

The term "de jure" can also refer to corporations or other entities who act in harmony with the law. A criminal corporation or entity, however, could not be called a de jure corporation. If an entity does not act according to the law, and is not a de jure entity, then this can result in legal action.
