Anticipatory Warrant

An anticipatory warrant is a type of search warrant that is issued because of an affidavit and that shows that evidence of a particular crime can be found at a particular place at some future date.

Anticipatory warrants are mostly executed on some condition rather than simply with the passage of time. This condition is known as "triggering." For example, a search warrant would not be executed until certain contraband is received and taken into residence.
