Bestiality

Definition of Bestiality

The crime of bestiality refers to when a person is found to have sexual relations with an animal. The term can also be used to denote savagely cruel or depraved behavior.

Dogs are the most victimized animals in states where the act is still legal.

Bestiality Explained

As of November 2017, most U.S. states list bestiality in their criminal statute books. Texas is in the process of doing so, as the state recognizes that studies have shown a link between child sexual abuse and someone who had previously committed bestiality acts.

Under the proposed Texas law, a person who badly hurts or kills an animal in the process of bestiality can be charged with a second-degree felony.
