Criminal justice is a general term which refers to the system through which justice is carried out at large. This system includes the police, lawyers, judges, correctional facilities, courts, etc. It is everything that goes into serving justice for criminals. The process starts at the initial investigation, and it ends when the defendant is either acquitted through a not-guilty verdict or when their punishment is completed.

Criminal Justice Explained

When a crime happens, it is necessary that there is a system in place in order to deal with it. If there was not, then there would be no means of serving justice. This is why criminal justice exists. It serves the purpose of creating a framework through which the government can prosecute criminals, and sentence them for their crimes. There are rules and procedures for each step of the process. This helps to ensure that everything is carried out in a fair and organized manner.
