Disorderly Conduct

Definition of Disorderly Conduct

Disorderly conduct refers to any kind of behavior that disrupts the peace of a community or endangers the health or safety of others. In the United States, every state has laws that prohibit disorderly conduct although the definitions of what exactly constitutes disorderly conduct may differ.

Disorderly Conduct Explained

Generally, disorderly conduct includes loitering, acts of vulgarity, screaming, pelting objects, and being drunk in public. Some states consider public intoxication to be disorderly conduct while others consider it to be a separate offense. Although some state statutes clearly define what constitutes as disorderly conduct, a judge decides if an act can be classified as such in others.
