Definition of Illicit

Illicit means against the law, or prohibited. This term is commonly used in reference to particular activities that are considered to be in violation of the rules of an area. The area could be a town, a state, or even a country. Illicit activities are often considered undesirable by many other citizens to whom the law applies.



Illicit Explained

Illicit behavior is often done by criminals, or by other people who act in defiance of the law. For example, a certain city may ban the practice of shooting dice as a form of gambling. People who continue to shoot dice after the city government bans it would be said to be participating in illicit behavior. The use of certain narcotics is frequently considered illicit behavior. Certain drugs in and of theselves are commonly considered illicit.
