Definition of Incest

The term incest refers to sexual intercourse between blood relatives like parents and children, brothers and sisters, aunts/uncles with nieces or nephew, and grandparents with grand children. Incest is considered a crime in all states even if it is consensual.

From a punishable act to a minor offense, laws around incest are different in each state, but it is considered a crime in every state. Domestic violence usually forms a basis of incest and it often goes unreported due to the “silent” nature of crime. Incest is also referred to as the “silent crime.”
