Debt Validation

Definition of Debt Validation

Debt validation is a legal process that a debtor is able to use. It makes any debt enforcement agency prove where the debt originated, how the total was calculated, and validates the existence and legality of the debt before the collections process can continue.

Debt Validation Explained

In order to prove that the debt collector has the right person, they can be asked to confirm the details of the debt they are trying to collect on. The law requires that the debt collection agency stop all collection efforts until such proofs are posted to the defaulting debtor.
