In-Kind Income or In-kind support and maintenance refer to food and shelter provided to the recipient of SSI (Supplemantal Security Income). It is treated as income and the amount received each month is reduced slowly up to a fixed amount.



In-Kind Income Explained

In-kind income can be in the form of provisions like free meals, free rent in return for care taking, free accomodation provided by a relative or friend, free household items and clothing by community organization, or exchange of services like babysitting.
