Joint custody is a term used in family law to refer to a situation in which both parents share equal custody over the child or minor children between them.
Sometimes neither parent pays child support to the other when joint custody is pursued. The final decision on child support is something that is decided by a judge. In addition, all financial obligations in relation to the minor children are agreed to in advance. The parents agree on a percentage of personal financial responsibility. If a decision cannot be reached, the court can calculate the percentage.
