Brain damage, also known as a brain injury, is the destruction of brain cells. The cause of brain damage can be internal or external factors. The most common type of brain damage is a concussion. They are generally mild in nature. Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI) is a severe form of brain damage. It is caused when an external force damages the brain traumatically.
The brain is considered the most delicate part of human anatomy. Even a small injury to it can prove to be fatal for an individual. Automobile, construction, and other accidents are the most common external factors which causes injury to the brain. When a physical injury to an individual results in destruction of brain cells, it's called brain damage or a brain injury. If an individual suffers severe brain damage due to external force like an accident, it's called a traumatic brain injury (TBI). The term head injury is sometimes also used to refer to brain damage, but it's a broader term that also includes injury to body parts other than the brain like skull and scalp. The least severe form of brain damage is known as a concussion. It is also the most prevalent one.
