Censorship is when a speech or work of writing is banned due to the nature of the words being used. If the words being used are inflammatory, controversial or indecent, the law dictates that the piece of work, either the speech or the written words, are banned.
If a person is censored for stating their views publicly, they are put on notice that if the incident repeats itself, the person will be charged with breach of censorship and likely breaching the peace.
The reason why things get censored is to ensure that the greater good wins out. Although people have a right to free speech, they also have a responsibility to ensure that what they are saying or writing is not derogatory toward any protected situation or class of people.
