National origin discrimination refers to treating people, especially employees or applicants, unfairly because they belong to a certain ethnic group, have a different accent, or simply because they appear different.
National origin discrimination can also include treating people unjustly because they are associated with or married to a person belonging to a different national origin. In the United States, it is forbidden by law to treat an employee unfavorably when it comes to matters like training, pay, hiring, firing, lay off, benefits, etc.
