American Indian law is the combined group of all federal and state statutes that relate to Native Americans and to their rights regarding financial compensation for land loss and land ownership. The laws also include facets for every aspect of life including equal opportunity laws that relate to American Indians. It also includes laws that Native American tribes use in their tribal courts.
The term is a broad generalization of an extensive list of laws that range from constitutional laws to state and local statutes at large. Any law that differentiates upon race will be included in these acts.
