Civil Rights

Definition of Civil Rights

Civil rights simply refer to the rights of individuals or groups guaranteed by the Bill of Rights. These rights include, but are not limited to, equal treatment of all people under law. This may include things like protection, property, enjoyment of life and liberty.

Civil Rights Explained

A general list of civil rights includes the freedom and right to vote; the chance to enjoy all the benefits of a democratic system or society, such as easy access to public schools, public facilities, transport, medical and housing; and just and timely treatments by courts and law enforcement agencies. This is by no means an all-inclusive list of civil rights.
